What We Do

D&D Gentle Touch, LLC will provide services to adults (male and female) with a diagnosis of intellectual disability in a group home setting.  According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (5th edition), an intellectual disability requires intellectual deficits, beginning the developmental period, that impair adaptive functioning as manifested by impairment in:

  • Reasoning
  • Problem Solving
  • Planning
  • Abstract Thinking
  • Judgement
  • Academic Learning
  • Experiential Learning

The program goals for residential services provided by D&D Gentle Touch, LLC include the following:

  • Initial and ongoing assessments of consumers to determine their level of functioning within the program and to make changes in the program goals and objectives as necessary.
  • To provide a homelike environment especially designed to promote a safe setting that is also therapeutic.
  • To advocate for and encourage self-advocacy from consumers regarding community inclusion.
  • To assist with needed healthcare services.
  • Provide transportation when necessary.
  • Provide monthly documentation of consumers development.
  • Provide services that promote personal choice.
  • To help consumers develop compensatory strategies to better function in society.
  • To provide interventions when consumers experience problematic situations.
  • Encourage greater independence in all life skill areas.
  • Encourage participation from family and friends of the consumer.

Admissions Criteria

The admissions criteria for residential services provided by D&D Gentle Touch, LLC are as follows:

  • The consumer must be 18 years of age or older.
  • The consumer and/or authorized representative is willing to participate in the program and the development and revision of the Individualized Service Plan.
  • The consumer must have a DSM-V diagnosis of intellectual disability.
  • Consumers with a dual mental health diagnosis will be considered for admission provided their mental illness is being treated and the consumer is considered stable by a licensed mental health professional.  Stability is defined by the consumer taking prescribed medication; having a reduction in symptoms based on baseline behaviors; and/or a history of community based living.
  • The consumer must demonstrate the need for structured, supervised housing.
  • The consumer must meet any specific criteria required by the funding agency.
  • The needs of the individual align with the program descriptions.
  • The consumer must have a recent psychiatric and/or psychological evaluation not more than three years old with one or more of the aforementioned diagnosis(es).

The overarching goal of D&D Gentle Touch, LLC is to provide a community-based placement that offers the greatest opportunities for independence while providing support as needed in functional areas.
